Baptist Hospital | Pensacola

On June 26, 2019, Baptist Health Care formally announced the planning and construction of a new state-of-the-art hospital in Pensacola, Florida. This $650 million project occupies a 57-acre campus. It includes the 10-story, 264-bed Baptist Hospital, the six-story, 178,000-square-foot Bear Family Foundation Health Center, and the 48,000-square-foot Baptist Behavioral Health Unit.

The Pensacola Baptist Health Care Brent Lane campus officially opened in September 2023. Business Interiors worked with Baptist Health Care, Gresham Smith, and Meadows and Ohly on this project. We were tasked with providing solutions for all patient-facing clinical areas. Specifically, our scope included the hospital’s main lobby, waiting areas, patient rooms, lab, pharmacy, and behavioral health areas.

Of the 264 patient beds, 54 are in the intensive care unit. 198 are medical/surgical, and 12 are labor and delivery suites. Patient rooms are spacious and private, designed for the comfort of families and visitors. The Behavioral Health Unit maintains 72 beds for adults and children needing inpatient treatment. The Bear Family Foundation Health Center houses the Baptist Cancer Institute, Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute, Baptist Medical Group, and other offices.

The entire campus is designed with a patient-first focus on comfort. Furthermore, we also focused on hospital staff space utilization, response time, and efficiency. This created a healthy, modern healthcare space. The hospital serves Escambia County and the surrounding area and stands as one of the most modern hospital campuses in the U.S.

South Georgia Pecan Company

South Georgia Pecan Company

In May of this year, South Georgia Pecan Company added offices to their Eastern Production Facility in Valdosta, Georgia, relocating their Administration teams that were previously at a separate office so that they could work more closely with the company’s production process and crew.

Business Interiors is proud to have worked with both Gladwin Vaughn Architecture, the A+D firm that oversaw the full project, and independent interior designer Sarah Varnedoe to provide the furniture solutions. The project included lobby space and reception, conference room, private offices and executive suite, break room lounge, and other common areas.

South Georgia Pecan Company is a 110-year-old pecan supplier founded in Valdosta. The company now operates two facilities—one in Valdosta and a second in El Paso—and sources and supplies pecans, almonds, walnuts, cashews, and macadamia nuts to the United States and the world.

Northrop Grumman Corporation | Redstone Gateway

In April, Northrop Grumman Corporation welcomed employees into their new two-building campus at Redstone Gateway, a mixed-use office and technology park in Huntsville, Alabama located next to Redstone Arsenal. The 260,000 sq ft campus is home to over 1,000 Northrop Grumman employees, and includes office space, program management and engineering design space, an integration laboratory, a data center, and a 350-person auditorium.

The Business Interiors Construction and Architectural Services team worked with Robins & Morton, the general contractor for the project on behalf of Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT), and provided a full Falkbuilt solution for the project’s extensive glass fronts. Powers Brown Architecture was the architect for the project.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is one of the leading aerospace and defense companies in Alabama, supporting key missile defense customers including the U.S. Air Force, NASA, U.S. Space Force and intelligence communities.

Space Camp Operations Center

Space Camp Operations Center

Huntsville’s U.S. Space & Rocket Center hosted a ribbon-cutting last week for the opening of the new Space Camp Operations Center.

Business Interiors is proud to have worked on this 40,000-square-foot project, having provided the furniture solutions for the classrooms, labs, private offices, workstations, and common areas. The BI team worked directly with the client and in collaboration with Fuqua & Partners Architects, the A+D firm, on the project.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield joined Space and Rocket Center officials and other local leaders to celebrate the occasion. The Operations Center houses all program operations, providing an exceptional educational resource for campers who come from 150 countries and all 50 states.

“Space Camp provides a unique opportunity to learn about scientific disciplines in a hands-on, interactive way, and through this program we are igniting our young people with a passion for discovery and filling their minds with great opportunities,” Governor Ivey said.
